FIELD: heat treatment in ferrous metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: method consists in interim cooling of rolled balls for 2-15 min down to hardening temperature. EFFECT: perfected method of hardening of tumbling balls, mainly, from high-carbon steels by reducing the gradient of temperature over ball section at the beginning of hardening.
