NUCLEAR ROCKET ENGINE Russian patent published in 1998 - IPC

Abstract RU 2113617 C1

FIELD: space vehicles. SUBSTANCE: engine has liquid hydrogen tank, pump, nozzle, gas outlet, and turbine. It is also provided with electronically powered electric motor installed in bottom part of engine casing. The latter functions as neutralizer of positive space charge build up in the course of operation of electronically powered rocket motor. Engine causes nuclear fusion reaction with energy released to heat hydrogen. Engine casing absorbs ionized hydrogen electrons.
