FUSION POWER PLANT Russian patent published in 2000 - IPC

Abstract RU 2156000 C2

FIELD: fusion-to-electric energy conversion; production of carbon-helium compounds. SUBSTANCE: plant has vessel, reaction chamber, steam pipe, turbine and generator, and lithium-6 carrying tube communicating with neutron radiation source that functions to irradiate lithium with slow neutrons in reaction chamber connected with deuterium tube. Energy of 1,12•109 cal is emitted by 1 g of lithium-6. Tritium + helium is produced as result of reaction between lithium-6 and slow neutrons. Tritium produced in the process enters in reaction with arriving deuterium to produce helium and neutron. Energy of 5,32•1012 cal is emitted by 1 kg of lithium-6 + neutron and by 1 kg of tritium + deuterium which is equivalent to 84 t of black coal. Fusion energy is 84.5 times higher than fission energy and its production is not accompanied by emission of large quantity of radioactive wastes. Plant also has graphite tube filled with graphite and connected to plasma channel carrying helium nuclei for oxidizing carbon to produce carbon-helium compounds and diamonds. EFFECT: improved capacity of power plant. 1 dwg
