FIELD: agriculture, in particular, commercial poultry and livestock farming. SUBSTANCE: feeder has feeding pipeline, feed pan and conical doser arranged so as to surround loosely feeding pipeline for adjusting path and amount of feed supplied from feed pan. Feeder is further provided with indexer and visual indicator for preliminary selection of height of lower door, which is automatically closed, when feeder is in suspended position above feeding surface, to provide indication of selected steady height. Feeder may be further equipped with rotary device for engagement and disengagement with feed pan and barrier by providing their relative rotation. Barrier is made in the form of cage and adapted to facilitate exit of birds or animals, which may be otherwise enclosed within it, as well as to make entrance for animals more difficult than exit. Feeder is preferably equipped with hook allowing feed pan to be suspended from fence during disengagement process. EFFECT: increased efficiency, suitability for feeding wider range of types of birds, reduced feed loss and elimination of contaminating of feed. 10 cl, 23 dwg
