FIELD: methods of production of highly dispersed powders of metals and alloys by gas phase method and deposition of metal coatings onto metallic and nonmetallic articles. SUBSTANCE: method includes heating of molten metal to boiling temperature. In so doing, metal is successively passed through zones of heating, boiling and superheating of vapors at gradual increase of temperature. Movement of vapors in zone of superheating up to its leaving is effected in the form of organized flow directed along the axis. Temperature in zone of heating is maintained at the level of 100-200 C above the metal melting temperature, and temperature in zone of boiling is 200-400 C above the boiling temperature, and in zone of superheating, 500-800 C above the metal boiling temperature. The device for embodiment of the offered method has body accommodating metal receiver, heating element and channel for efflux of metal and its vapors. Metal receiver has holes for supply and discharge of metal and is connected with heating element. Hole for metal discharge is communicated with channel for efflux of metal and its vapors. The channel is formed by two cylindrical members located coaxially, and it is separated into zone of metal boiling and zone of superheating of its vapors. Heating element and each cylindrical member are made of current conducting material and connected with current leads. Channel for efflux of metal and its vapors may be equipped with various removable appliances for regulation of direction of vapor flow and also for control of shape of stream of vapor efflux from sublimation still. EFFECT: improved quality of desired product, increased product yield and process productivity, reduced specific consumption of materials, specific power intensity and labor input. 8 cl, 2 dwg , 2 tbl
