RAILWAY CAR BODY FIT-UP METHOD Russian patent published in 1998 - IPC

FIELD: railway transport; passenger cars. SUBSTANCE: end face walls are mounted on body frame and their position relative to frame longitudinal axis is checked. Then side walls 8 are mounted on frame. Walls 8 are fixed by screw clamps 9 which are applied to edges of window and door apertures of car sides. Then roof 10 is placed on end face and side walls 8. Walls are checked relative to axes, and roof is pressed to end face walls. Side walls 8 are pressed to roof sheathing 11. End face walls are connected with frame 2 and with side wall and roof binders by welding. Side walls 8 are tilted towards each other prior to fitting the roof and their angular position within the limits of relative cross displacement of binders of side walls and roof lowered onto walls is fixed by screw clamps. Checking of side wall alignment is combined with pressing the walls to side of roof sheathing by means of screw clamps 9. EFFECT: facilitated assembling the body for welding, simplified alignment of body side walls. 3 dwg
