FIELD: waste water treatment. SUBSTANCE: composition contains, wt.-%: cationic polyelectrolyte with charge density 2 to 10 mg-equ/g and molecular weight from 200 thousand to 10 million, 0.001-2.0; buffering additive, 0.05-10.0; and metal compounds, the balance. Metal compounds are selected from the group including: aluminum chloride, oxychloride, hydrochloride, and polychloride; ferric chloride and sulfate; calcium and magnesium chlorides and sulfates; or mixture of these compounds. As cationic polyelectrolyte, employed are: acrylamide-dimethylaminoethyl methacrylate copolymers, dimethylaminoethyl methacrylate homopolymers quaternized by dimethyl sulfate, acrylamide-dimethyldiallylammonium chloride copolymers, and copolymers based on methacrylamide and N,NТ-dimethylaminoethyl acrylate. Buffering additives are selected from the pairs: sodium carbonate and hydrocarbonate, sodium acetate and acetic acid, potassium hydrophthalate and hydrochloric acid, or sodium hydrophosphate and dihydrophosphate providing pH value of waste water within the range from 4 to 10.
