FIELD: mechanical engineering. SUBSTANCE: protection device is installed on two universal joints by means of connecting caps and sliding ring. Each connecting cap is designed also for connecting funnel-shaped protective member. Protection devices of proposed type serve to protect joints from touching. They are motionless when propeller shaft is rotating. To prevent contact of protective funnel-shaped members with parts of universal joint covered by these members in case of radial load on funnel-shaped member, for instance, when somebody steps on propeller shaft, support ring is connected to each connecting cap by means of spokes. Support ring props protective funnel-shaped member from inside To provide easy access to universal joint parts, for instance, when universal joint is to be installed on power takeoff shaft, protective funnel-shaped member can be made corrugated, i.e. sufficiency flexible in direction of longitudinal axis, being at the same time good for taking high radial loads.
