FIELD: metallurgy, in particular, methods of mechanical and heat treatment of powdery materials; may be used in production of distance pieces and other articles from flexible graphite. SUBSTANCE: method consists in that powder of oxidized graphite with bulk density of 0.3-0.7 g/cu.m is mixed with a powder of chemical compound in dry state to obtain homogeneous mixture. Prepared mixture is placed into service hopper from which the mixture is blown out with air and hydrogen-containing gas to furnace for graphite expansion and heated up to 900-1250 C. From the furnace mixture is supplied to roughing mill. Supplied simultaneously with mixture for roughing rolling is metal reinforcing net or strip. Then graphite strip is subjected to continuous heat treatment in continuous furnace in vacuum or protective atmosphere with heating rate of 50-200 C/s and finishing rolling to the required size.
