FIELD: industrial organic synthesis. SUBSTANCE: method includes interaction of hydrocyanic acid with isobutylene in presence of water and acid catalyst at molar ratio of ingredients 1:1:1:(0.25-0.8), respectively. In another embodiment of invention, hydrocyanic acid interacts with isobutylene in presence of acid catalyst at molar ratio 1:1:(0.25-0.8). Acid catalyst is selected from the group including sulfuric, phosphoric, trifluoroacetic acids, sulfonic acids, and sulfonic acid cationites. Reaction mixture is held for 0.25 to 6 h at 20 to 60 C. Primarily obtained tert-butylformamide is subjected to alkali hydrolysis, while simultaneously distilling final product. EFFECT: improved feasibility and reproducibility of process. 4 cl
