FIELD: manufacture of articles with screw-shaped members, possibly production of auger for centrifuge. SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of setting onto tube initial helix blank being annular rectangular cross-section blank; forming helix and securing it to tube simultaneously at intermittent tube rotation corresponding to pitch of tack welding of turns due to successively setting and rolling each turn of blank at predetermined values of pitch, lead and deflection angles, effort and mean contact pressure in rolling zone being area restricted by turn height and chord of double deflection angle of contact surface. Installation includes housing and apparatus for rolling and guiding initial helix blank. Apparatus is provided with mechanisms for mounting and rotating it. Installation also includes additional guiding unit for moving rolling and guiding apparatus at predetermined cone angle. Apparatus for rolling and guiding initial helix blank is in the form of manipulator mounted with possibility of motion relative to auger axis along two mutually normal axes and provided with three-coordinate hydraulically driven clamping device designed for controlling rolling efforts in wide range and having changeable ball-roller cassettes. Additional guiding unit is in the form of ruler movably joined by means of tie rod with manipulator and mounted in curvilinear grooves of base having dial and secured to housing by means of straps.
