FIELD: ferrous metallurgy, namely manufacture of bimetallic blanks with corrosion resistant surface. SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of assembling cylindrical blank of main material and tubular blank of coating material, for example of stainless steel; performing assembling operation by pressing in cylindrical blank into tubular blank with non-closed contour at providing gap between its lengthwise edges; dressing for welding said lengthwise edges by means of grinding wheel with double-side cone profile; selecting depth of dressing and parameters of grinding wheel depending upon thickness of tubular blank; welding received blank along end edges and heating it; rolling blank and then subjecting it to heat treatment; welding up lengthwise seam. EFFECT: enhanced quality of corrosion resistant coating, improved effectiveness of making bimetallic blanks, lowered cost. 9 cl, 3 dwg
