FIELD: chemical engineering. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of ethylbenzene hydroperoxide via oxidizing ethylbenzene by oxygen- containing gas (in particular, oxygen) and may likewise be used in production of isobutane and isopentane hydroperoxides. Oxidation is carried out at 140-160 C (145-155 C) at pressure 5 atm until residual oxygen content in non-condensed gas reaches 3 vol % (not recycled) in a set of vertical reactors provided with vertical stream-distributing heat exchangers. Temperature fall in the cooling liquid in heat exchangers is within 20 to 40 C range. Oxygen-containing gas stream distributors disposed in the bottom part of heat exchangers have openings oriented at angles 45 deg., and flow velocity of oxygen-containing gas ranges from 30 to 90 m/s. EFFECT: increased yield of hydroperoxide doe to higher oxidation selectivity and reduced yield of acids. 1 dwg
