FIELD: industrial organic synthesis. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to combined production of propylene oxide and styrene and aims at increasing selectivity of ethylbenzene hydroperoxide formation and reducing content of carboxylic acids in oxidation product, as well as reducing catalyst consumption. For that, liquid-phase oxidation of ethylbenzene into its hydroperoxide is carried out at elevated temperature using air oxygen in presence of a controlling additive. The latter is 2,6-di-tert-butyl-4-dimethylaminomethylphenol in amount from 5 to 30 ppM. EFFECT: enhanced process efficiency. 2 cl, 1 tbl
