FIELD: antenna equipment. SUBSTANCE: measuring device has oscillator, receiver with indicator and two additional antennas with unknown gain. Method involves coaxial pair-wise mounting of antennas in far-field region which electric axes are directed to one another, connection of antenna under investigation to receiver and connection of additional antenna to oscillator through transmission line and calibrated attenuator, detection of attenuator readings Z 1,2 and receiver indicator U. Then first additional antenna is replaced by second one, calibrated attenuator is set to previous reading of receiver indicator U and new reading of attenuator Z 1,3 is detected. Then tested antenna is replaced by first additional antenna, calibrated attenuator is once again set to receiver indicator reading U and new reading of attenuator Z 2,3 is detected. Then antennas are disconnected and output of transmission line is connected to input of receiver. Reading U is set once again and reading of attenuator is detected. Gain of antenna under investigation is calculated using equation given in invention specification. EFFECT: possibility to measure antenna gain using two antennas with unknown gain without expensive measuring equipment. 4 dwg
