FIELD: industrial organic synthesis. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to processes of isolation of styrene from methylphenylcarbinol dehydration products. As polymerization inhibitor, mixture is used containing 3,5-di-tert-butyl-4-hydroxy- N,N-dimethylbenzylamine, alifatic carboxylic acids and quinone at ratio 1: (0.1-2):(0.0001-1), respectively. Mixture is added in quantity 100-2000 ppm based on weight of dehydration products. Quinone may be represented by 3,3,5,5-tetrabutylstilbenequinone, 3,3,5,5-tetrabutylphenoquinone, p-quinonedioxime, or their mixtures. Inhibitory composition is effective to prevent polymerization of dehydration products when being purified or rectified at temperatures up to 150 C and higher.
