HYDROMECHANICAL PACKER Russian patent published in 1998 - IPC

FIELD: oil and gas production industry. SUBSTANCE: this is used in drilling oil and gas wells and particularly in isolating beds in well. Hydromechanical packer has hollow body with radial passage. Passage is blanked with plug having shear component. Plug can be forced inside body of packer under action of pressure differential between hole clearance and inside string space. Connected to packer body is thrust adapter. Sealing member is located on packer body. Sealing member interacts with thrust adapter. Packer body also carries differential bush which together with packer body creates annular chamber. Annular chamber communicates with packer body space through radial passage at pressure increase in space inside string. Differential bush has internal space which accommodates piston. Bush space communicates with annular chamber. Packer body has elongated slot for annular chamber to communicate with radial passage. Volume of differential bush space is larger than total volumes of annular chamber, elongated slot, and radial passage. Hydromechanical packer adds to its reliability. EFFECT: higher efficiency. 2 dwg
