FIELD: production of inorganic pigments. SUBSTANCE: composition for producing the brown iron oxide pigment consists of 90-99 wt.-% deposits obtained after electrochemical treatment of galvanic production waste and 0.5-10 wt. -% reductive agent - finely divided metal: aluminium or iron, or easily oxidizing organic matter - spent oil, paper waste, vat residues from higher alcohols production. Pigment produced from this composition has the following properties: covering power is 8-15 g//m2, oil absorption is 40-54 g/100 g pigment. Pigment can be used for staining plastics, rubber, natural and artificial leather, paint and varnish materials, etc. EFFECT: improved quality and properties of pigment. 3 cl, 1 tbl
