FIELD: manufacture of ceramic pigment, particularly, decoration of building ceramics and porcelain ware. SUBSTANCE: initial blend for preparing ceramic pigment comprises, wt.%: aluminium oxide, 30-40; powdery aluminium, 3-7; powdery magnesium, 3-7; boric acid, 1-5; dye, 2-24; ammonium nitrate, 29-49. Blend is ground, thoroughly stirred and ignited from electric fuse using thermal cartridge or electromagnesium alloy charge. Thermal synthesis of pigment is carried out combustion mode. Pigment resulting from thermosynthesis is divided to particle size of less than 10 mcm. The method makes if possible to simplify technology of preparation of ceramic pigments and reduces energy consumption during synthesis process. EFFECT: more efficient preparation method. 5 cl, 1 tbl
