FIELD: communications engineering. SUBSTANCE: main line device is used instead of traditional line group device in line unit. Main unit sends message about information conveyed to line group device replacing it through transmitting medium to remote line group unit which is geographically distant from line unit. Remote line group handles many individual subscriber lines and provides for servicing subscribers without using many components required for traditional line unit. Number of components incorporated in line unit is minimized. Line group set interacting with line unit can be located at long distance from the latter.
