FIELD: digital networks. SUBSTANCE: method involves conversion of signal flow with pulse-code modulation into ATM parcels for commutation and transmission through communication network. Each parcel carries one pulse-code modulation sample from 48 voice signal connections for same receiver. Parcels are transmitted through virtual ATM channels, so that each channel transmits one parcel each 125 ms. New voice communication lines may be allocated using free intervals in parcels of existing virtual connections.
