FIELD: digital communications. SUBSTANCE: digital switching system that has l subscriber concentration modules, l+m remote subscriber modules, n+l+m telephone sets, and through switching module is provided, in addition, with k+l through switching modules each incorporating input/output units of common warning channel and routing unit; through switching units are connected to subscriber concentration modules and are interconnected so that particular through switching module is connected to part of subscriber concentration modules and through switching modules enabling construction of cost- effective switching circuits of arbitrary sizes. Routing unit enables selection of shortest possible route for call passage (over switching steps). EFFECT: simplified design and improved economic efficiency. 2 dwg
