FIELD: communication devices. SUBSTANCE: invention discloses design of automatic exchange system with user equipment providing possibility to connect analog and digital channels and heterogeneous subscriber lines. Each subscriber assembly is connected to separate exchange unit of subscriber line. Switching unit provides commutation of digital channels, analog channels, shared system channels. Subscriber assembly provides independent exchange of data and telephone information through subscriber line channel-sharing system. Best voice quality is achieved by means of voice- processing unit installed in subscriber assembly and, when connection being established, maximal possible rate is chosen constrained by capabilities of signal processing circuits and digital or analog channels which are connected to switching unit. Rate value is input by operator of input-output unit into initialization data storage unit when network is developed, or its structure is upgraded. In the course of establishing connection this value may be corrected using results of testing all pieces of connection path by means of test signal messages. After testing, marker selects maximal possible rate which is allowed by channel and subscriber equipment. Exchange of system information on all pieces of connection path between subscribers is achieved using devoted system exchange channel. Exchange consists of well-formed messages, which include connection establishing stage, address positions, information about connection rate and information about channel condition. EFFECT: increased functional capabilities due to establishing connection paths using digital and analog channels between exchange systems and subscriber lines and connection of subscriber equipment with possibility of data exchange. 6 dwg
