FIELD: gas treatment. SUBSTANCE: to dry gas, the latter is brought to one side of membrane in the first membrane dryer under conditions facilitating penetration of most water steam to the second membrane side to form first passed low- pressure gas containing most of steam and first non-passed gas. At least a part of the first passed gas is compressed to rise pressure by at least 344.738 kPa, while water is removed from at least a part of compressed gas. The latter operation is accomplished by condensing water steam in compressed gas to form water that is further removed; or by removing disposable part of compressed gas containing essential part of steam from the process; or by combining the two preceding ways and using at least a part of compressed gas for the second membrane dryer to produce second passed gas and second non-passed gas. The second non-passed gas is separated into first recycle gas for outlet side of the first membrane dryer and second recycle gas for outlet side of the second membrane dryer. The first non-passed gas is restored to practically dry state containing less than ca. 150 ppm moisture and at least 98% of gas. EFFECT: reduced moisture content. 11 cl, 2 dwg, 3 tbl
