PYROLYSIS UNIT FOR PRODUCING FUEL COALS Russian patent published in 1998 - IPC

FIELD: pyrolysis of wood and other types of low-grade solid lump fuel containing volatile substances. SUBSTANCE: pyrolysis unit has two furnace chambers, one of chambers adapted for subjecting basic material to pyrolysis process and other chamber for drying the material. Chambers are arranged so as to define block and provided with heating devices. Two converters positioned above heating devices have steam and gas discharge openings made in their lower parts. Pyrolysis chamber has smoke, steam and gas circulation device disposed within chamber in vertical position. Entrance of drying chamber heating device is connected with discharge end of pyrolysis chamber. Heating device of drying chamber is formed as steam and gas afterburner connected via channels to heating device of pyrolysis chamber. Air supply openings are made in the vicinity of afterburner entrance. Afterburner pyrolysis chamber may be equipped with regulating gate positioned at its outlet end.
