FIELD: generators of electron beams and X-rays. SUBSTANCE: pulse of accelerating voltage is generated at vacuum diode by means of excitation of explosion electron emission at cathode of vacuum diode and initial filling of vacuum diode with explosion electron emission cathode plasma. Electric connection of stages of high- voltage pulse generator is designed so that output terminal of cascade generator is potential, i.e. it is connected through isolation elements to potential terminal of charging power supply. Vacuum diode which is connected as load between output terminal of generator and ground serves simultaneously as trigger gap of cascade generator. Increased reliability of cascade generator starting is achieved by resistive mechanism for over-voltage accumulation in gaps between cascades. Increased stability of excitation of explosion electron emission under charge voltage is achieved by liquid-metal design of cathode of vacuum diode. EFFECT: increased stability and reliability of excitation, increased speed of beam current acceleration, increased stability of beam current, simplified design, increased reliability. 3 cl, 2 dwg
