DRILL PRESS Russian patent published in 1998 - IPC

FIELD: machine engineering, namely apparatuses for automatically drilling holes for rivets. SUBSTANCE: drill press 1 is coupled with industrial robot R by means of mounting bracket 3 supporting carriage that may be moved by motor and carries headstock 8 with drilling head. Drilling spindle 12 is mounted in drilling head with possibility of rotation and it has seats for mounting drills 13,14 on each end. Driving wheel for rotating spindle is mounted approximately midway between spindle ends. Mounting bracket 3 is mounted with possibility of rotation around axle 5 normally crossing with axis 2 of drilling spindle approximately in the middle. Drilling spindle is driven through toothed belt by means of controllable electric motor. Step electric motor is used for feeding drill. Drill press is provided with measuring device M and at least with one video camera movably mounted on drilling unit. Drill press is also provided with hood and jets for spraying cutting fluid. Mutually opposite arrangement of tools on one spindle and rotatably mounted bracket provide possibility of drilling holes in hard-to-reach places, in different planes.
