FIELD: textile industry. SUBSTANCE: threads containing cotton fibers, prior to be woven, are sized at 20-25 C with composition containing, g/l: maize starch, 33-37; urea, 23-27; sodium tetraborate, 0.9-1.1; castor oil, 0.45-0.55; and water, the balance. Rupture strength of sized cotton threads is increased by 38.5-39.2%, and rupture elongation reduced by 13.8-14.1%. Size regain is 7%, yellowing of threads not observed. EFFECT: reduced power consumption and improved environmental condition due reduced sizing temperature. 1 tbl
