FIELD: brake technics. SUBSTANCE: cast iron contains, wt %: carbon, 2.6-3.4; silicon, 1.2-2.2; manganese, 0.3-0.8; phosphorus, 2.7-3.2; sulfur, up to 0.03; vanadium, up to 0.1; magnesium (residual), at least 0.03-0.04; aluminum, 0.3-0.4; and iron, the balance. Such composition results in increased strength characteristics and reduced brittleness of cast iron and therefore increased wear-resistance of products made of this cast iron because introduction of magnesium into phosphorus cast iron in above-indicated proportion ensures formation of sphere- and vermiculite-shaped graphite inclusions and simultaneous formation of fine perlite with homogeneous phosphide eutectic. Such structure increases strength characteristics by 40-50% and wear-resistance by 15-20%, in particular, in brake blocks manufactured from proposed cast iron without use of reinforcing frames. EFFECT: improved working characteristics of brake blocks. 2 tbl
