FIELD: manufacture of castings of gray iron. SUBSTANCE: liquid iron is poured into metallic molds at 1250-1320 C, the ratio of the components being as follows (wt % ): 2.8-3.6 carbon; 0.8-2.0 silicon; 0.4-1.2 manganese; 0.3-0.8 phosphorus; 0.03-0.10 calcium; 0.02-0.10 barium; 0.02-0.10 aluminium; and iron, the balance. The use of the claimed process provides manufacture of castings of gray iron having an improved hardness of HB-304-HB 309 and wear resistance uniformly all over the portion thereof and at low cost thereof. EFFECT: improved properties of the castings.
