METHOD OF DETERMINATION OF MOVEMENT ASYMMETRY OF HAND WRISTS Russian patent published in 1998 - IPC

FIELD: clinical physiology and functional diagnostics; neurosurgery and neurology. SUBSTANCE: method consists in bending of right-hand and consequently left-hand wrists in response to light signal. End of bending of right- or left-hand wrist is signal for bending of symmetrical wrist. In this case, time of bending function change-over is recorded. Asymmetry of hand wrist movement is determined during time lag of bending function change-over. Asymmetry of bending function time in cases of total damage to right- or left-hand bronchial plexus an immobility of right- or left-hand wrist is revealed by imaginary (mental) bending of right- or left-hand immovable wrist in response to light signal. On completion of imaginary bending, bending of intact wrist is performed with simultaneous recording of reaction time. Asymmetry is determined by time lag of bending function change-over as compared with normal value.
