FIELD: medicine. SUBSTANCE: novel chemical compounds, more particularly β- hydroethylaminium-5- hydroxynicotinates of formula I: β wherein R is CH2CH2OH(XC-1), CH3(XC-2), H(XC-3), said compounds have antiischemic activity. Desired compounds are prepared by reacting 5- hydroxynicotinic acid with corresponding aminoalkyls in the presence of solvent during heating operation. In experiments on animals, said compounds show high antiischemic activity and low toxicity. EFFECT: improved properties of the title compounds. 2 ex, 4 tbl
