FIELD: organic synthesis. SUBSTANCE: N,N-dimethylpiperidin is brought into interaction with methyl chloride at temperature above 0 C, preferably at 1: 1 molar ratio, in anhydrous liquid solvent dissolving N,N- dimethylpiperidin and not dissolving its hydrochloride. Preferable solvent is acetone. Separation of final product is advantageously carried out under moisture-free inert gas atmosphere. Product is anhydrous crystalline substance containing at least 98% of desired material. EFFECT: increased purity of product. 5 cl, 1 tbl, 2 ex
