FIELD: optical projection systems. SUBSTANCE: converter uses a set of irregularly laid light guides whose inlet ends are optically linked with the light source optical system and with the light source optical system and with the means of variation of the radiation spectral composition, and the outlet ends-with the image projection lens system. The light guides are made in the form of light-guide braids whose deformed cross-section at the inlet and outlet are combined into compact sets. Irregularity factor K of laying of light guide fibers in each braid is selected proceeding from a definite relation. The converter may be placed inside a rigid body and can move along one or two coordinates by means of a kinematic coupling. The area of the converter inlet end is so selected that it should not exceed the image area of the field diaphragm of the light source optical system.
