SEALING LUBRICANT FOR THREADED CONNECTIONS Russian patent published in 1999 - IPC

FIELD: lubricating materials. SUBSTANCE: invention focuses on conical threaded connections of pipes and equipment employed in boreholes. Principal aim of invention is to improve sealing capacity of lubricant consisting of oil base, thickener, antifriction and antiscoring additives. Aim is achieved by adding polyethylene (5-16%) and fluoroplastic (5-25%) powders with particle size 0.07 to 1.25 mm. Another aim is increasing adhesion capacity of lubricant and facilitating its applying on moistened and frosted threaded surfaces. For that, liquid oligomers with hydroxyl groups (laprols) in amount at least 15 wt %. Oil base is used oil including finely dispersed iron, carbon, and silicon compounds.
