FIELD: television engineering. SUBSTANCE: total television input signal S1 is divided by separation filter 12 into luminance component Y1 and chrominance component C1; separated components are applied to processor unit 16 incorporating image visualizing device 18 connected to it. In order to intensify details in dark and light areas of visualized pictures, brightness signal is connected to display processor unit through brightness-signal nonlinear processing unit 20 which provides for additional intensification in dark and light areas but at the same time tends to affect signal-to-noise ratio in these areas. For eliminating this defect, TV set 10 is provided with shunt circuit 50 that functions to short out high-frequency components of brightness signal about brightness-signal processing unit 20 and with filter (R1, R2, C1) incorporated in this unit to reduce high-frequency components.
