FIELD: mining machinery and equipment. SUBSTANCE: this is intended for operating members of mining machines which are used preferably for development of salt and coal deposits having no hard inclusions. Cutting member has at least one strip made of hard-alloy material which is soldered with holder provided with shank. Length and thickness of hard-alloy strip are determined on basis of empirical formulas depending on physical and mechanical properties of materials used for making hard-alloy strip and its holder. Aforesaid embodiment of cutting member allows for increasing its stability with less amount of hard-alloy material used for its manufacture. EFFECT: higher efficiency. 3 cl, 5 dwg
