FIELD: cutting tools. SUBSTANCE: tool has a holder on which bearing surface a cutting member in the form of a polyhedral prism with the working part in the form of a truncated pyramid is mounted. The tool has cutting plates from a solid alloy which are radially positioned relative to the longitudinal axis of the tool or in parallel to the prism sides along the side ribs of the prism. The points of cutting plates are located on the small base of a pyramid which sides are inclined to the sides of the prism at an angle of 10-40°. The number of sides is chosen from a number series 4, 5, 6, 8. The bearing surface of the holder on which the cutting member is positioned is made at an angle of 3-12° to the main tool plane.
