FIELD: mechanical engineering. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to heavy-duty friction assemblies used in elevators, mineral dressing equipment, motor and railway transport pump equipment, shipboard equipment, etc. Composition contains binding agent and abrasive-like component, which, along with natural magnesium hydrosilicate, contains oxides of metals having lower affinity for oxygen as compared to iron and also contains magnetic solid solution of these oxides having spinel and/or garnet structure. Presence of indicated additives in composition causes topochemical reactions in friction zone which provide formation of film firmly joined with base and decreasing wear on friction assembly elements. When composition is applied on heavy machines, 2-3-fold reduction in vibration is observed after 72 hr operation. Consumption of lubricants is reduced by 25%. EFFECT: essentially reduced friction and wear of parts. 4 cl
