FIELD: ferrous metallurgy, in particular, production of steels alloyed with sulfur to increase their workability by cutting. SUBSTANCE: method includes introduction into teeming ladle with liquid steel of powder wire with filler consisting of mixture of sulfur-containing materials with substances-stabilizers with the following ratio of components, wt.%: sulfur-containing material, 94-96; substance-stabilizer, 4-6. Substance-stabilizer is used in the form of material taken from group including aluminum, and/or ferrosilicon and/or silicomanganese. Sulfur-containing material is used in the form of sulfur, and/or iron sulfide, and/or iron pyrite. Wire is introduced in quantity of (1300-3500)N/M kg/1 t of steel, where N is required increment of sulfur content in ready steel, wt.%; M is sulfur fraction in sulfur-containing material, wt.%. EFFECT: reduced spread of sulfur content in ready steel, increased assimilation of sulfur by metal, excluded deviation of sulfur content in separate heats from preset limits. 1 tbl
