FIELD: optical instruments, in particular, for infrared radiation control. SUBSTANCE: method is based on experiment-proven effect of keeping two-stable state of molecules of adsorbed water at temperature above threshold of hydrogen bond destruction in adsorbed water. It involves positioning an optical member at path of irradiation flow, and subjecting it to pulse heating and subsequent slow heating in temperature range which is greater than threshold of hydrogen bond destruction in adsorbed water. Optical member is made from material which has adsorbed water. EFFECT: increased temperature range for optical temperature hysteresis of optical member, possibility to control position, shape and size of optical temperature hysteresis loop. 2 dwg
