FIELD: search for magnetic and nonmagnetic objects, investigation of celestial bodies, geological and archaeological explorations. SUBSTANCE: method involves periodic magnetization of object using permanent magnet field of sensor on its section between poles, measurement of inductive pulse amplitude, determination of rate of periodic magnetization of object, and measurement of magnetic substance content in object. Total data on magnetic substance content is used to determine boundaries of material change. For locating boundaries in solid and loose objects use may be made of set of their h pairs of identical sensors. For liquids and gases magnetic sensor gap is periodically filled with liquid or gas, respectively. Set of sensors may be mounted in medium which is periodically punched through mechanically permeable layer. EFFECT: enlarged functional capabilities. 4 cl, 2 dwg
