FIELD: power supply systems built around AC-to-DC and DC-to-AC converters. SUBSTANCE: 2m-phase converter system has first and second m-phase converter units each incorporating m-phase rectifier, m-phase converter transformer, and three-phase reactor, as well as three-phase condenser bank; transformer units are interconnected to ensure shift between instantaneous values of secondary phase voltages across units through angle π/m and three-phase reactors of units forming compensating device as well as three-phase condenser bank employ circuit arrangement similar to that of odd-ratio current harmonic filters of converted units; in addition, it is provided with third stand- by m-phase converter unit with m-phase rectifier, m-phase converter transformer, and three-phase reactor with transformer and reactor winding change-over circuits; when stand-by unit operates together with first m-phase unit, transformer and reactor of stand-by unit use circuit arrangement similar to those of transformer and reactor of second unit; when it operates together with second m-phase unit, its transformer and reactor are connected into circuits similar to those of transformer and reactor of first unit. System can be used to supply with power electric graphitization, electrolysis, and electrothermic plants, electrified transport, and special-purpose installations.
