FIELD: radioisotope instrumentation, determination of altitude in navigation systems of flying vehicles. SUBSTANCE: radioisotope altimeter has radiation source, reference radiation source, scintillation detector, photodetector, code-controlled frequency divider, frequency signal converter, signal normalizer, device continuously measuring altitude and speed that incorporates sliding integrators, linearization code converter, subtracter, adder, multiplier and recorder of altitude and speed connected in series, actuator coupled through frequency comparator to output of photodetector which is also coupled to stabilizer and to code-controlled frequency divider connected with input to device compensating for changes of activity and background having connection to inputs of frequency signal converter and incorporating former of initial delay, meter of signal of reference radiation source, computer of compensation signal of change of activity of radiation source, formers of time interval of change of signal of background and of signal of background compensation as well as output former and buffer register. Output of stabilizer is connected to second input of photodetector. EFFECT: increased authenticity of measurements thanks reduction of dynamic error. 6 dwg
