SUBSTANCE: level gauge uses two tubes immersed in a vessel, which accommodates a movable radiation source and a radiation detector combined in N sections containing M elements each and connected, respectively, to outputs N and M of a matrix switch, whose input is connected to one of the outputs of the controller, whose other three outputs are connected to the inputs of the inputs signal switch, detector power source and indicator, respectively, and two inputs are connected to the outputs of two signal comparators, whose first inputs are connected to the outputs of the first and third counters-accumulators, the inputs of the counters-accumulators are connected to the outputs of the input signal switch, whose K-digit input is connected to outputs K of input amplifiers, and the radiation detector represents a distributed radiation detector consisting of L sections containing K detectors each, whose supply circuits are connected to outputs L of the power source, and the signal outputs, parallel-connected into groups containing K detectors each, are connected to outputs K of input amplifiers.
