FIELD: sewage purification, in particular, for mechanical engineering, metallurgy, chemistry and food industry. SUBSTANCE: method involves polarization of soluble and insoluble electrodes using current of alternating polarity, and separate regulation of amplitudes of anode and cathode currents using pulse current with pauses between pulses of opposite polarity. Duration of these pulses is equal to quarter period, ratio of amplitudes of anode and cathode pulses is within range of 0.25-1.0, range of average current densities is 0.5-2 A per sq.dm. EFFECT: decreased usage of anode body, increased degree of purification, increased stability of electrochemical processes at cathode, decreased electric power consumption. 3 tbl, 3 dwg
