FIELD: environment control methods and equipment. SUBSTANCE: oil barrier is intended for prevention of spreading oil layer occurred in result of accident over water surface. Barrier is made up of component floating on water surface and which is produced from waterproofing material, and other component which is immersed in water and produced from hydrophilic material. This immersed component ensures stabilized position of entire barrier. Both components of barrier are made of at least two compartments produced of material consisting of glass fibres which are formed into fibrous mats. Mats are converted into fibrous braid. Component of barrier which is immersed in water incorporates hydrophilic fibrous mats. Glass fibres of mats are coated with water-insoluble binding substance. Immersed component of barrier as to its volume constitutes 1/10-1/3 part of floating component of barrier. Used as binding agent in both components of barrier is epoxy resin or any other artificial resin possessing similar characteristics. Barrier keeps sufficiently stable even at intensive heaving of sea due to fact that its lower immersed component is quickly impregnated with water and starts functioning as keel.
