FIELD: separation of rod material by blanks whose lengths are less than diameter of rod, preferably for batch and mass production. SUBSTANCE: system for radially clamping rod includes stationary lower clamp with cutting edge and vertically moving upper clamp with coaxial grooves corresponding to half of cross section of clamped blank. Grooves of clamps are provided with lateral sickle-shaped triangular cross section dents arranged axially from cutting edge and mutually spaced by distance equal to feed stroke. When upper clamp moves said dents are embedded to blank for forming notches. Cut off portion of blank is subjected to axial effort by means of axial-head pusher in order to create in cutting zone stressed state of omnidirectional compression. Sickle-type dents embedded to blank prevent possibility of pushing rod out of radial clamping zone by means of pusher. It provides high accuracy of dimensions of blank at cutting. Then blank is separated at moving sleeve cutter. EFFECT: enhanced accuracy of blank cutting. 2 dwg
