FIELD: engine making, recognition of errors in fixture for detection of detonation knocks in internal combustion engines. SUBSTANCE: in correspondence with invention process of detection of detonation knocks is carried out without interruption and simultaneously with process of recognition of errors in fixture for detection of detonation knocks. In this case output signals of pickups are compared with rated standard level that depends on rotation speed and increases with growth of probe. Comparison results are used to detect detonation knocks. Knocking combustion being detected antiknock measures are taken to prevent inadmissible operation conditions in case of wrong operation of pickup of knocking combustion or corresponding circuit processing data from internal combustion engine. Recognition of errors is conducted without any interruption, rated standard level is continuously checked for being within limits of permissible range formed depending on rotation speed. This range is permissible rated band of standard level or range between upper boundary value UGO depending on rotation speed and lower boundary value UGU depending on rotation speed. If this rated standard level of reference signal leaves this range for time specified in advance error is detected and safety measures are introduced and act till this standard level is again within limits of permissible range. EFFECT: simultaneous and uninterrupted detection of knocks in internal combustion engine and in fixture detecting them. 8 cl, 3 dwg
