FIELD: construction engineering. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to ensuring stability of buildings and structures at earthquakes. Restricted effect of elastic vibrations is achieved by their dampening by means of vacuum wall. This limitation is checked by seismographs located at both sides of aforesaid wall. Restricting wall is assembled of protective screens having vacuum spaces which are made in the form of ball shells. Protective screens are glued up of separate hemispheres which are stamped from sheet plastic material possessing thermochemical acid-resistant properties. Screens are installed one against other on sand pad in trench for example in two rows with displacement of one screen relative to other in height and length by half of ball shell diameter, and covered with sand. Trench and vacuum wall are arranged in the form of horseshoe around for example predicted and recorded on maps epicenters of earthquakes or around separate building or structure at optimal close distance irrespective of predicted intensity of earthquakes. Vacuum wall is installed in trench vertically or at incline to plane that is facing epicenter against probable direction of elastic vibrations. Seismographs are installed in zone of their supposed action and at external and internal sides of vacuum wall. EFFECT: higher efficiency. 2 dwg
